Second Ultrasound!

I went in today for the follow up to my "New OB" appointment since Denise (my CNM) was called away to a twin C-section during my last appointment. This appointment means it's "official," I'm really pregnant and Denise is really my midwife and I'm really a patient at PPC (Physican's Primary Care). I went over all the financial information and all the basic do's and don't's of being pregnant and got a list of medicines I can take and a bunch of prenatal vitamin samples and brochures on pregnancy classes.

The bonus: I got another ultrasound!

Denise was having a hard time getting a clear shot of Pixel, it was playing peek-a-boo behind its placenta but she finally got the heartbeat (a nice, strong 167--the same as before). She tried the belly ultrasound second when she couldn't get a clear shot with the first (transvaginal) ultrasound. Pixel apparently got tried of the prodding and started doing acrobatics, squirming and flipping and moving all around like a pinball (and probably would have felt funny if Pixel were big enough to feel). This made it even harder to get a clear shot but Denise was able to get a slightly blurry image. The baby was measuring 10 weeks, 6 days but my EDD wasn't changed (I'm 11 weeks, 1 day) because it's rather variable at this point and 2 days "behind" isn't really any cause to worry or change things.

(the head is on the right, body slopes down to the left)

I was there for about 2 hours, which is about an hour longer than I expected. There was a half hour wait, then I had a full physical exam then the ultrasound with an uncooperative Pixel. On the way back to work I grabbed "second lunch," my chicken caesar salad apparently didn't fill me up for too long.
